How the World of Robotiri Was Born
The story behind a world built one comic strip at a time
Robotiri began around 2018, when small droids started appearing in the pages of my sketchbook.
In 2019, I created the @robotirinhas profile and began publishing the first comic strips. At that time, the project focused mainly on robots and more traditional gags.
When the pandemic began, the project went on hiatus.
During that period, I started working on the graphic novel Século XXI, inspired by a positive vision of the future in which human beings, technology, and nature coexist in harmony.
It was through this graphic novel that I began to better understand the world Robotiri could live in.
When I returned to the comic strips in 2024, the project was no longer the same. I had changed as well, and the world around me was going through major transformations with the rise of artificial intelligence and robotics.
I then realized that Robotiri did not need to be only a series about robots.
It could be about a future that worked out.
From that point on, the project began to grow slowly through the comic strips. The children appeared, along with environments filled with nature and clean energy, Flower, the Lost Media stories, and Robotiri Radio.
The setting became a silent character, and the strips gradually began to build a larger universe.
Today, I see Robotiri as a worldbuilding project told through contemplative comic strips, with little irony and an affectionate view of the future.
Because the complete story spans several years, pauses, changes, and discoveries, I wrote a longer text describing the entire process.
It also serves as a small historical record of the project, written while this world is still being built.
